Law360, New York (November 17, 2009, 6:29 PM ET) -- The U.S. Senate voted Tuesday to move forward with a vote on Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit nominee Judge David Hamilton, thwarting a last-minute attempt by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., to block the nomination.
Senators voted 70-29 to invoke cloture on Judge Hamilton's nomination, clearing the path for an up-or-down confirmation vote, after limited debate, that could come as early as Wednesday.
