Investigators Accuse Fed. Judge Of Bankruptcy Fraud

Law360, New York (December 08, 2009, 6:18 PM ET) -- Witnesses before a U.S. House of Representatives task force on judicial impeachment said Tuesday that U.S. District Judge Thomas Porteous committed bankruptcy fraud by obtaining a credit card and racking up thousands of dollars in casino debt during Chapter 13 proceedings.

The testimony came as part of the House Judiciary Committee judicial impeachment task force's inquiry into whether the Eastern District of Louisiana judge should face impeachment charges based on allegations that he solicited cash bribes from local lawyers.
