Obama Taps Utah Law Professor For 10th Circ.

Law360, New York (March 04, 2010, 5:25 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama has nominated University of Utah law professor and former Utah gubernatorial candidate Scott Matheson Jr. for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Obama nominated Matheson, 56, to fill a vacancy left by Michael McConnell, a conservative judge who resigned from the appeals court in 2009 to become director of the Stanford Constitutional Law Center at Stanford Law School.

The nomination received quick support from Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as at least one Republican from Matheson's home...
