Law360, New York (May 04, 2010, 4:27 PM ET) -- After a series of preliminary discussions, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has decided not to merge with SJ Berwin LLP, a London-based firm that is reportedly pushing for a U.S. partnership.
It had been widely reported that the two firms were in merger talks. But on Monday, Orrick chairman Ralph Baxter sent a memo to all of the firm's partners saying the deal would not take place, according to a copy of the memo obtained by Law360.
