Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 12:52 PM ET) -- The Senate Judiciary Committee will begin holding hearings to consider Solicitor General Elena Kagan's nomination for the U.S. Supreme Court on June 28, committee chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said Wednesday.
Leahy described the schedule as "reasonable" and "in line with past practice," despite protests from the committee's ranking Republican, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., that the hearings should not begin until Congress resumes work after the July 4 holiday.
