Senate Confirms Kagan To Supreme Court

Law360, New York (August 05, 2010, 3:31 PM ET) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday confirmed Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court, paving the way for her to become the fourth woman to serve on the nation's highest court.

Only 37 senators voted against Kagan's nomination, including Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., who was the only member of his party to oppose President Barack Obama's choice.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who broke GOP ranks to vote to send Kagan's nomination to the full Senate in late July, backed the nominee again Thursday.
