House Exempts Attys From Identity Theft Requirements

Law360, New York (December 08, 2010, 8:17 PM ET) -- Congress has given its final approval to a bill that will exempt lawyers, doctors, accountants and other professionals from the Federal Trade Commission's Red Flags Rule, a set of stringent requirements designed to curb identity theft among creditors.

Members of the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Red Flag Program Clarification Act of 2010 on a voice vote Tuesday, clearing the legislation for President Barack Obama’s signature. The Senate had passed the same bill Nov. 30.
