Law360, New York (January 24, 2011, 8:25 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama on Monday tapped former Jenner & Block LLP partner and current Deputy White House Counsel Donald Verrilli Jr. to fill the solicitor general vacancy left by Elena Kagan's appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court.
In announcing Verrilli's nomination over contenders such as acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal, Obama expressed his confidence that Verrilli “will serve ably in this important role” and added that he looked forward to working in the future with his nominee, who must now be approved by the Senate....
