House Dems Introduce Supreme Court Transparency Bill

Law360, New York (March 03, 2011, 5:16 PM ET) -- Democratic lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday introduced a bill that aims to make U.S. Supreme Court justices provide greater disclosure about conflicts of interest that cause them to withdraw from a case.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., would require Supreme Court justices to explain their reasoning when they recuse themselves or when they remain on the bench after a motion to disqualify has been filed.
