Calif. Jurors Must Stop Tweeting Or Risk Prison Time

Law360, New York (August 08, 2011, 5:43 PM ET) -- California jurors who post information on Twitter or other social media platforms about a trial or deliberations could get prison time for being in contempt of court under a state law signed Friday by Gov. Jerry Brown.

The law requires the court to tell jurors that the prohibition against researching or disseminating trial and deliberation information includes electronic or wireless communications. Any violation of this court admonishment can be punishable as a civil or criminal contempt of court.
