Obama Withdraws Md. District Court Nomination

Law360, New York (November 01, 2011, 9:29 PM ET) -- President Barack Obama on Monday withdrew the nomination of a Maryland magistrate judge whom he originally tapped in 2010 for a seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Obama nominated Judge Charles Bernard Day to fill the vacancy left by Judge Peter J. Messitte, who became a senior judge in the District of Maryland in 2008. It is the only judicial vacancy in the district, according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
