Law360, New York (July 30, 2012, 4:21 PM ET) -- New Jersey residents this November will vote on a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would expressly allow lawmakers to increase sitting judges' pension and health benefit contributions following legislative approval of the measure Monday.
The Legislature acted on the proposal less than a week after the New Jersey Supreme Court handed down a split decision that a 2011 law increasing such contributions for New Jersey public employees breached a state constitutional ban on reducing the salaries of sitting judges.
