Judge Pushes To Replace Court Reporters With Recordings

Law360, New York (July 26, 2013, 6:48 PM ET) -- A Nebraska federal judge has strongly endorsed replacing human court reporters with digital recordings, arguing in a blog post that the government's fiscal crisis is an impetus to commit to electronic recordings.

“To put the matter in stark relief, for every court reporter we replace, we can devote the savings to retaining essential personnel such as federal public defenders,” wrote U.S. District Judge Richard G. Kopf of the District of Nebraska.
