Facing Charges For Quashing Evidence, Texas Judge Resigns

Law360, Dallas (September 24, 2013, 8:47 PM ET) -- Williamson County District Judge Ken Anderson said Tuesday he’s leaving the bench to return to private life, as the former district attorney and longtime prosecutor faces criminal charges and a civil action alleging he suppressed evidence that exonerated a man wrongly convicted of murder.

Anderson, who presided over the 26th Judicial District Court for a decade, is accused of withholding evidence when he was a prosecutor that eventually proved Michael Morton innocent of his wife’s brutal 1986 killing. Morton was released from jail in 2011, after...
