Worldwide Legal Spending Rose 3% In 2012, Survey Says

Law360, Los Angeles (September 27, 2013, 4:05 PM ET) -- Companies worldwide increased total legal spending by 3 percent in 2012 while in-house legal spending climbed 5 percent, suggesting legal cost-cutting efforts have begun to slow, according to an annual survey HBR Consulting released Thursday.

The survey, which gathers and reports qualitative and quantitative metrics that assess and benchmark law department performance, also reported a 2 percent increase in outside counsel spending and a slight increase in outside counsel rates.
