Law360, New York (March 05, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- North Carolina-based Helms Mulliss & Wicker PLC and Virginia-based McGuire Woods LLP have joined forces, combining to create a firm with nearly 900 attorneys in offices scattered across the globe.
The merger, announced on Wednesday, will become effective on March 31. The new firm will be known as McGuireWoods LLP and will have a total of 17 offices. The merger will give McGuireWoods a substantial presence in Charlotte, a market that it first entered in 1998 following a merger with Blakeney & Alexander.
