Law360, New York (April 01, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP has laid off about 40 attorneys and some staff, blaming clients' falling demand for legal services in a deepening recession.
Firm spokeswoman Julie Gilbert said Wednesday that Locke Lord had laid off 6 percent of its 688 attorneys, though she did not give an exact number, with the firm's real estate and finance groups hit hardest. The layoffs did not include any partners, Gilbert said.
