Law360, New York (April 07, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Although the sluggish economy has slowed mergers between major U.S. law firms, acquisitions of small law firms have continued unabated, contributing to the slight rise in law firm mergers reported this year, according to a legal management consulting firm.
In Altman Weil Inc.’s merger analysis released Tuesday, 24 new law firm mergers and acquisitions were reported in the U.S. in the first quarter of this year, up from 18 deals reported during the same period last year.
