McCain Proposal Would Increase Supplement Oversight

Law360, New York (February 04, 2010, 4:50 PM ET) -- Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has announced that he will introduce legislation to increase government scrutiny of the dietary supplement industry.

Announced Wednesday, the bill would require supplement companies to annually report all adverse events from their products to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, require retailers to make sure their suppliers are following the law, and would require manufacturers to register with the FDA and fully disclose their ingredients.
