Law360, New York (February 09, 2010, 1:26 PM ET) -- Cynosure Inc. — a manufacturer of laser-based fat removal technology — has agreed to license a patent covering the technology to rival CoolTouch Inc., ending an infringement suit brought by Cynosure more than two years ago.
The settlement in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, which Cynosure announced Tuesday, requires CoolTouch to pay a 9 percent royalty on sales of its CoolLipo product made before the settlement.
CoolLipo is used for lipolysis, the process of removing subcutaneous fat with a laser.
