US Can't Prove Wellbutrin Statements False: GSK Atty

Law360, Washington (May 09, 2011, 7:16 PM ET) -- Former GlaxoSmithKline PLC attorney Lauren Stevens asked a Maryland federal judge Monday to toss criminal charges of obstructing justice and lying to federal investigators in relation to an investigation of whether the company illegally marketed antidepressant Wellbutrin for weight loss purposes.

The government “has failed to present evidence sufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt any of the six counts,” Stevens said in a motion for judgment of acquittal filed Monday.
