UPS, FedEx Settle Network Signatures IP Suits

Law360, New York (September 22, 2011, 6:41 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Thursday approved settlements that FedEx Corp. and a UPS Inc. subsidiary reached with security tech company Network Signatures Inc. to resolve patent infringement suits covering computer encryption technology invented by the U.S. Navy.

United Parcel Service General Services Co. and FedEx are the latest companies to settle suits lodged by Network Signatures accusing dozens of companies of violating U.S. Patent Number 5,511,122.

Terms of the settlements were not immediately available Thursday.

"The matter has been resolved," FedEx spokeswoman Sally Davenport told Law360....
