Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 2:43 PM ET) -- Hologic Inc., a diagnostic medical products manufacturer, plans to absorb rival Gen-Probe Inc. in a $3.7 billion cash sale that would give the combined company an edge in the women's health industry, the two said Monday.
The Bedford, Mass.-based buyer expects the deal to draw earnings of as high as 20 cents per share in the first fiscal year after closing the deal closes, which Hologic said should happen in the second half of 2012 after Gen-Probe shareholders and regulators give their approval.
