Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 8:24 PM ET) -- A U.S. Senate committee approved a budget for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other federal agencies Thursday that would deliver $1 billion in funding for the Department of Agriculture's food inspection unit, a sum larger than the agency had requested.
The FDA would receive $2.52 billion total in fiscal year 2013 under a budget sent to the Senate floor by the Committee on Appropriations. That figure does not include funding derived from user fee programs, which Congress is working to reauthorize.
