CMS Delays Sunshine Act Compliance Until Jan. 1

Law360, New York (May 04, 2012, 4:41 PM ET) -- Pharmaceutical companies won't be required to start collecting information on the payments and gifts they give to doctors until after Jan. 1, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said Thursday.

The agency also signaled that the proposed rule, which was harshly criticized by both drug companies and doctors groups, has “numerous important issues” that will be addressed in the final rule, expected later this year.
