Bayer, Pharmacia To Pay $4M To Settle Superfund Suits

Law360, New York (May 10, 2012, 6:30 PM ET) -- Bayer CropScience Inc. and Pharmacia Corp. have agreed to pay $4.25 million to resolve lawsuits by the U.S. and Massachusetts over natural resource damages at the Industri-plex Superfund site, the U.S. Department of Justice said Thursday.

A variety of manufacturing operations by the defendants' predecessors at the Woburn, Mass., Superfund site have polluted the Aberjona River, its associated wetlands and the Mystic Lakes with arsenic, chromium and other hazardous substances, according to complaints filed in Massachusetts federal court.
