Law360, New York (May 14, 2012, 12:36 PM ET) -- Hospira Inc. said Saturday it was voluntarily recalling one lot of its hydromorphone injection drug because the syringes contain more of the painkiller than is listed on the package, which could lead to life-threatening problems for users.
The company said it has discovered the lot of its 1-milliliter syringes were overfilled. According to Hospira, reactions to overdosed opioid pain medications such as hydromorphone can include slowed breathing or suspension of breathing, low blood pressure, reduced heart rate and circulatory collapse.
