41 AGs Back Bill Allowing Suits Over Generic-Drug Warnings

Law360, New York (May 14, 2012, 6:50 PM ET) -- Forty-one attorneys general Friday threw their weight behind legislation that would effectively overturn a U.S. Supreme Court ruling shielding manufacturers of generic drugs from lawsuits over harm caused by inadequate warning labels.

The National Association of Attorneys General's letter, signed by top prosecutors in states and territories across the country, urges Congress to pass the Patient Safety and Generic Labeling Improvement Act, a newly introduced bill that would let generic-drug makers independently change their labels to include new risks or side effects and open them up...
