Law360, New York (July 13, 2012, 12:10 PM ET) -- A former Ropes & Gray LLP attorney asked a Massachusetts federal judge Thursday to force a New York research laboratory to explain how it calculated damages in a $82.5 million lawsuit accusing him and the firm of botching patent applications.
Matthew P. Vincent said Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory had refused to answer repeated questions about how it arrived at the huge damages sum, only telling him that it had used a “broad-based licensing model common to academic institutions,” but not explaining the methodology.
