CMS Names New Chief To Implement Key ACA Provisions

Law360, New York (August 17, 2012, 6:08 PM ET) -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has named a new leader to implement key aspects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, tapping a onetime agency insider who recently left to help launch California’s health insurance exchange, a CMS official said Friday.

Gary Cohen will head the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, a division within CMS that’s charged with overseeing high-profile elements of health reform, including the so-called Patient’s Bill of Rights, which protects individuals with pre-existing conditions and bans lifetime caps...
