Law360, New York (February 15, 2013, 5:33 PM ET) -- Hoffman-La Roche Inc. on Thursday defeated 40 lawsuits over injuries allegedly caused by its acne treatment Accutane because of the plaintiffs' failure to find an expert witness, leaving only two cases remaining in multidistrict litigation in Florida over the drug.
In granting Roche's summary judgment motion, U.S. District Judge James Moody Jr. ruled there was no legitimate reason for the plaintiffs to miss the court's deadlines to name an expert who could testify that Accutane causes inflammatory bowel disease.
