Dialysis Machine Sales Halted Over Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (April 07, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Fresenius Medical Care AG has been slammed in a long-running patent dispute with Baxter International Inc., with a federal judge ordering Fresenius to pay $17.1 million and to halt sales of its top-selling dialysis machine.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Saundra Brown Armstrong of the Northern District of California granted motions by Baxter for the damages award and a permanent injunction preventing Fresenius from selling its 2008K hemodialysis machines in the U.S. as of January 2009.
