Law360, New York (April 15, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has ruled on two of four neural stem cell patents at the center of a dispute between biotech firm StemCells Inc. and rival Neuralstem Inc., but the two parties disagree over how extensively the claims have been amended.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based StemCells said Tuesday that the patents had been upheld in re-examination with minor amendments. But a Neuralstem executive said its opponent had “completely mischaracterized” the changes and called them numerous and substantial.
