Law360, New York (October 02, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge has ordered Medtronic Inc. and its counsel, McDermott Will & Emery LLP, to pay about $4.4 million in legal fees as punishment for pushing ahead with an allegedly meritless patent suit against a rival company.
In an order issued Tuesday, Judge Richard P. Matsch of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado awarded German health products maker BrainLAB Inc. $3 million in attorneys' fees, $600,000 in costs and expenses and $800,000 in interest.
