Law360, New York (October 22, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Nonprofit researchers called for increased scrutiny of Pfizer Inc.’s Chantix following reports that the smoking-cessation drug had caused more serious injuries than any other drug in the first quarter.
The Institute for Safe Medication Practices released a study on Wednesday that claims that varenicline, a drug Pfizer markets under the names Chantix and Champix, reported more than 1,000 health problems and injuries, including 50 deaths, in the first quarter of 2008.
