Virgin Sues Apple France Over iPod Licensing

Law360, New York (August 06, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- U.K. music retailer Virgin Mega has joined Real Networks in a growing campaign to force Apple Computer to open up the popular iPod music player to other vendors.

Virgin Mega has filed a complaint with the French Competition Council alleging that Apple France has wrongfully refused to license the Fairplay digital rights management technology, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing by Apple.
