Blockbuster, Others Sued Over Promotion Code Patents

Law360, New York (June 03, 2011, 5:16 PM ET) -- Blockbuster Inc., Kohl's Illinois Inc., J.C. Penney Co. Inc. and Redbox LLC were hit with a patent suit Thursday in Texas claiming they infringed patents for a promotional discount code system and a method to gauge customer response to promotions.

CodePro Innovations LLC's complaint asserts U.S. Patent Numbers 5,924,078 and 5,717,866, issued in 1999 and 1998, respectively.
