Producer Slams Actor O'Neal Over Defamation Suit

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 5:50 PM ET) -- A television producer on Friday told a California state court that actor Ryan O'Neal's defamation suit against him stemming from a dispute over ownership of an Andy Warhol painting that once belonged to Farrah Fawcett was prohibited by the state's anti-SLAPP statute protecting free speech.

The allegedly defamatory statements were made on the heels of the University of Texas — to which Fawcett bequeathed all her artwork when she passed away in 2009 — launching suit against O'Neal in July to get back the Andy Warhol...
