Playboy Mansion Partygoer Sues Over Sex-Biased Prices

Law360, New York (October 04, 2011, 8:22 PM ET) -- A California man filed a proposed class action Friday against Playboy Enterprises Inc., claiming the company engaged in illegal gender-based pricing when it charged men, but not women, $1,000 each to attend a “Leather Meets Lace” party at the Playboy Mansion.

Although men were charged the full price, women were granted admission for free or at a reduced rate, the suit alleges, claiming the difference in prices amounted to a violation of California's Gender Tax Repeal Act of 1995.
