Law360, Wilmington (October 07, 2011, 7:48 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday awarded Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. $200,000 in attorneys’ fees against a pro se plaintiff that alleged the production company lifted ideas from her memoir for the Chris Rock movie “Death at a Funeral.”
U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson tossed the suit in August, finding plaintiff Pamella Lawrence could not back up her copyright infringement claims and dismissing her related state law claims of fraud and breach of contract for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
