Google Says Most Authors Support Book-Scanning Project

Law360, New York (February 09, 2012, 7:41 PM ET) -- Google Inc. on Wednesday hit back against a group of authors who claim in a putative class action that its project to archive the world's books violates copyright law, arguing that most writers endorse its plans.

Google said that a survey of nearly 1,000 top authors has revealed that about 60 percent of them approve of its so-called Google Books Library Project, a plan to scan essentially every book ever written and make them all available for searching.
