Paramount Sues Puzo Family To Block 'Godfather' Sequel

Law360, New York (February 21, 2012, 5:28 PM ET) -- Paramount Pictures Corp. sued the estate of the "The Godfather" author Mario Puzo Friday, saying its plans for a new unauthorized sequel novel infringe the studio's trademarks and copyright.

Puzo's estate, headed by his son Anthony, has already published unauthorized Godfather sequel “The Godfather's Revenge," which proved a critical flop, Paramount said in a complaint filed in New York.

Now a new planned book, “The Family Corleone,” could further drag down the reputation of the award-winning Godfather trilogy of films, Paramount argued.
