Film Producer, Pals Reach $2M Deal In Insider Trading Case

Law360, New York (May 08, 2012, 3:20 PM ET) -- A Hollywood movie producer and several of his relatives and friends agreed Tuesday to pay nearly $2 million to settle a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suit alleging they traded on insider information about a data center company on whose board the producer sat.

The SEC filed and settled a complaint against Mohammed Mark Amin, a producer of several films including “Frida,” a 2002 Frida Kahlo biopic starring Salma Hayek. Amin allegedly passed inside information to his cousin, brother and several friends about DuPont Fabros Technology...
