Beastie Boys Say Monster Stole Songs For Web Ads

Law360, New York (August 09, 2012, 3:41 PM ET) -- Hip-hop band the Beastie Boys sued Monster Beverage Corp. in New York federal court Wednesday, accusing the beverage maker of using their trademarked name and copyrighted music in promotions without authorization.

Michael Diamond, Adam Horovitz and the estate of the late Adam Yauch say Monster edited together 24 of their songs into a “Beastie Boys Mega Mix” and distributed it as an advertising tool on its website and also put other songs into a shorter Web advertisement.
