Court To Rule Soon On BHP's $39B PotashCorp Bid

Law360, New York (November 09, 2010, 4:45 PM ET) -- A federal judge has announced he will soon decide whether to block BHP Billiton Ltd.'s $38.6 billion hostile takeover bid for Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc., though the ruling will likely have little impact because the Canadian government has already all but squashed the deal.

Judge David H. Coar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, who is presiding over PotashCorp's suit against BHP to stop the deal, said Monday he expected to rule before the Nov. 18 deadline for PotashCorp shareholders...
