Law360, New York (January 24, 2012, 4:33 PM ET) -- European private equity firm Bridgepoint will buy Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s investment management unit Quilter & Co. Ltd. for an undisclosed amount in a deal expected to close in the next few months, Bridgepoint announced Tuesday.

Terms of the transaction, including financing, were not disclosed.

Quilter, billed as a specialist private-client wealth management group, has approximately £7.6 billion ($11.9 billion) under management, and a raft of clients that includes high net-worth individuals, charities and trusts, pension funds, corporate bodies and friendly societies, according to Bridgepoint....
