Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 1:48 PM ET) -- Rio Tinto Alcan Inc. has offered to ease restrictions placed on companies licensing its aluminum smelting technology in an effort to end the European Commission’s probe into possible antitrust violations over its bundling of technology licenses with equipment sales, the regulator said Friday.
Montreal-based Rio Tinto agreed to modify its technology licensing agreements so that licensees of company subsidiary Aluminium Pechiney SAS' aluminum smelting technology will be able to use other qualified suppliers to purchase the equipment, according to a statement issued by the European Commission....
