NY Law Gives Antitrust Immunity To State Health Care System

Law360, New York (October 25, 2013, 8:21 PM ET) -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, over the objections of the state attorney general, on Wednesday signed a bill that would enable state-chartered Nassau Health Care Corp. to legally enter into arrangements with other health care providers that might otherwise be deemed anti-competitive.

The law would provide immunity to Nassau Health, better known as NuHealth, from state and federal antitrust laws and clears the way for a pending public-private partnership between it and North Shore-LIJ Health System.
