Law360, New York (July 16, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- French energy company Suez SA's shareholders overwhelmingly approved a merger with French utility Gaz de France SA Wednesday, which will almost certainly lead to the formation on July 22 of GDF Suez as one of the world's largest power companies.
Nearly 100% of the almost 1,000 ordinary and extraordinary Suez stockholders who attended the meeting voted in favor of adopting its six resolutions, among them the merger and the spin-off of Suez's environment activities unit, Suez announced.
