AAI Sees Silver Lining In Google-Yahoo Partnership

Law360, New York (September 23, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- The online advertising pact between Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc., under antitrust scrutiny by regulators, has drawn the cautious backing of the American Antitrust Institute, which said an alliance could have pro-competitive benefits.

A white paper issued by the AAI Tuesday concludes that the proposed deal between the Internet search engine giants, whereby Yahoo would have the option of placing Google ads on its search results, should be considered ‚Äúpresumptively anti-competitive‚ÄĚ, but could also benefit consumers by allowing Yahoo to remain in the Web search market....
